There are two ways to modify an existing collection in Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2007.
Collection properties (attributes that reflect a collection's content) are modified through the <Collection Name> Properties dialog box. Attributes that can be modified there include the following:
- General collection information
 
- Membership rules
 
- Advertisements to the collection
 
- Security rights
 
Collection settings (attributes that reflect a collection's behavior) are modified through the <Collection Name> Settings dialog box. Attributes that can be modified there include the following:
- Maintenance windows
 
- Collection-specific variables
 
- Collection-specific restart and policy

| To modify the properties of a specific collection, you must have Modify permission for the Collections security object type. To modify the settings of a collection, you must have Modify Settings permission for the Collection security object type. To modify collection properties

In the Configuration Manager console, navigate to System Center Configuration Manager / Site Database / Computer Management / Collections.

Right-click the collection that you want to modify, and then click Properties.

In the <Collection Name> Properties dialog box, modify the settings as needed. For information about the specific pages in this dialog box, see Collection Name Properties. 
To modify collection settings

In the Configuration Manager console, navigate to System Center Configuration Manager / Site Database / Computer Management / Collections.

Right-click the collection that you want to modify, and then click Modify Collection Settings.
