The driver catalog consists of the Drivers node and the Driver Packages node in the Configuration Manager 2007 administrator console.

Drivers Node

The device drivers that have been imported are displayed in a list in the Drivers results pane. The Name column is used as the default sort order. The following columns are displayed by default:

  • Name

  • Provider

  • Class

  • Version Number

  • Version Date

  • Categories

  • Status

You can filter the drivers that are displayed in the Drivers pane using the four filter actions located above the list.

Look For

Enter all or part of a device driver name, or use the drop-down list to select from existing filter criteria.
In

Select the column to use when applying the filter criteria.
Find Now

Click Find Now to run the filter.
Clear

Click Clear to remove the filter and display the entire list.

When a specific driver is selected in the Drivers pane, the General tab on the lower half of the device driver properties pane displays the following properties of the device driver:

The Applicability tab displays the following properties associated with the selected device driver:

You can select the following default actions grouped under Drivers in the Actions pane. You can collapse the default actions by clicking the up arrow in the Drivers section header.

Import

Select this action to run the Import New Driver Wizard and import one or more device drivers into the driver catalog.
New Folder

Select this action to create a new folder at the highlighted point in the console tree.
New Search Folder

Select this action to launch the Search Folder Criteria dialog box. The search folder dialog box provides a way put Configuration Manager 2007 objects into a folder based on administrator defined search criteria. When you select a device driver in the Drivers properties pane,, you can run the following actions grouped under that device driver name section in the Actions pane. You can collapse the default actions by clicking the up arrow in that section header.

Import

Select this action launch the Import New Driver Wizard package. You can use this wizard to import a new device driver into the driver catalog.
New Folder

Select this action to launch the New Folder dialog box which will allow you to create a new folder to store device drivers.
New Search Folder

Select this action to launch the Search Folder Criteria dialog box. You can specify the object properties that should be searched.
Refresh

Select this action to refresh the Configuration Manager 2007 Administrator Console display.
Properties

Select this item to display detailed properties for the selected device driver.
Disable

Disables a device driver in the driver catalog. If a device driver is disabled it will not be installed by the Auto Apply Driver action but can still be installed as part of a Apply Driver Package action.
Enable

Enables a device driver in the driver catalog. If a device driver is enabled it can be installed by the Auto Apply Driver action and as part of an Apply Driver Package action.
Categories

Select this action to assign, modify, or remove a category for the associated device driver.
Add or Remove Drivers to Packages

Allows you to add a new device driver to a driver package, or remove a device driver from an existing driver package. Use the Add or Remove Drivers to Packages dialog box to add or remove the content associated with a selected device driver to or from a driver package.
Add or Remove Drivers to Boot Images

Select this action to add or remove a device driver from a boot image package.
Cut

Select this action to cut the selected device driver to paste in another device driver folder in this tree.
Copy

Select this action to copy the selected device driver to paste in another device driver folder in this tree.
Delete

Select this action to delete the device driver. When you delete a device driver, you will be prompted to confirm the deletion.
Properties

Select this option to display the properties associated with the selected device driver.

Driver Packages Node

The driver packages that have been created are displayed in a list in the Driver Packages results pane. The Name column is used as the default sort order. The following columns are displayed by default:

  • Name

  • Version

  • Package ID

You can filter the drivers that are displayed in the Driver Packages pane using the four filter actions located above the list.

Look For

Enter all or part of a driver package name, or use the drop-down list to select from existing filter criteria.
In

Select the column to use when applying the filter criteria.
Find Now

Click Find Now to run the filter.

New

When you select a driver package in the Driver Packages results pane, you can run the following actions grouped under that device driver name section in the Actions pane. You can collapse the default actions by clicking the up arrow in that section header.

Update Distribution Points

Select this action to update the distribution points that contain the driver package with the latest version of the driver package. Click Yes to confirm and initiate the update.
Manage Distribution Points

Select this action to launch the Manage Distribution Points Wizard. The wizard will assist you with copying the driver package to a new distribution point.
Move Items

Select this to launch the Move Items dialog box. This dialog box is used to move a selected image to a new container.
Cut

Select this action to cut the selected driver package to paste in another driver package folder in this tree.
Delete

Select this action to delete the driver package. When you delete a driver package, you will be prompted to confirm the deletion.
Refresh

Select this action to refresh the Configuration Manager 2007 Administrator Console display.
Properties

Select this item to display detailed properties for the selected device driver.
Help

Select this action to display Configuration Manager 2007 product help for this node.
