An Operating System Deployment boot image is a Windows Pre-Installation Environment (PE) 2.0 image that is used during the operating system deployment process. The Boot Images node displays a list of the Operating System Deployment boot images that have been created, the actions that can be run, and, when a boot image is selected from the Boot Images list, specific actions that can be run for that boot image.
Available Operating System Deployment boot images are displayed in a list in the Boot Images results pane. The Name column is used as the default sort order. The following columns are displayed by default:
- Name: The name of the boot image
package.
- Version: The version of the boot
image. This represents an arbitrary value set by the Configuration
Manager 2007 Administrator.
- Comment: An optional user defined
description of the image.
- Image ID: The unique ID number created
by Configuration Manager 2007 that is associated with the boot
image.
