When client computers in Configuration Manager 2007 report a non-compliance status for a configuration item in an assigned configuration baseline, you can determine why it failed compliance by running the following report: Non-compliance details for a specific configuration item on a computer.
Use the following procedure to view the non-compliance information for a specified configuration item on a computer.
To determine why a configuration item failed compliance on a computer by running a report

In the Configuration Manager console, navigate to System Center Configuration Manager / Site Database / Computer Management / Reporting / Reports.

In the Reports node, click the Category column to sort the reports so that you can more easily find the reports relating to desired configuration management.

Right-click the report Non-compliance details for a configuration item on a computer.

In the Report Information page, type in the name of the computer or click Values to select it from a list for the Computer Name. Type in the configuration item name, or click Values to select it from a list for the Configuration Item Name. Optionally, type in or select the Configuration Item Content Version.

Click Display to view the report. Information about the configuration item is displayed, such as which property within the configuration item caused the non-compliance status and the non-compliance severity level.

Close the report.
