When ConfigMgr Status Message Viewer opens, it runs a query related to the node from which it was opened and then it displays messages that meet the criteria for that query. For example, if you navigate to Component Status, right-click a component in the results pane, right-click Show Messages, and then click Warnings, Status Message Viewer displays only the warning messages that are generated by the specified component.

Note
No security rights are needed to open ConfigMgr Status Message Viewer, but you must have Read rights for the Status Message security object class to see any messages.

To open ConfigMgr Status Message Viewer

  1. In the Configuration Manager console, navigate to System Center Configuration Manager / Site Database / System Status.

  2. Under System Status, click the status summarizer whose messages you want to view. This can be one of the following:

    • Advertisement Status

    • Package Status

    • Site Status

    • Component Status (under Site Status)

    • Site System Status (under Site Status)

  3. In the results pane, right-click an item, click Show Messages, and then click the required severity. Only status messages of the specified severity will be displayed. Only messages pertinent to the item you right-clicked will be displayed. For example, if you right-clicked a package, only messages about that package are displayed.

    Note
If the Configuration Manager 2007 database contains a high number of applicable status messages, specifying a severity of All might cause the display to take a long time to complete.
