Distributing Software

Before You Begin

Although it's easy to copy files or install programs manually to a small number of computers on a network, this can be a tedious task when it comes to medium and large networks. Fortunately, Systems Management Server provides a built-in facility to distribute files and configure programs on client computers.

In order to do the the exercises in this chapter, you must have followed the instructions in "About This Book" and completed the exercises as outlined in Chapter 2. That is, Computer 1 must be configured as a site server and installation methods must be enabled before you can begin these exercises.
