After you install the SMS tools you
want to use, you can access them by
navigating to the appropriate items in the SMS Administrator
console and by using SMS menu options. However, to access tools (or
snap-ins) that are not integrated with SMS, but that can run within
the SMS Administrator console, you must add them to the SMS
Administrator console after you have installed them.
To add a snap-in to the SMS
Administrator console, you must make sure that the console is in
Author mode. Perform steps 1 through 6 if the console is not in
Author mode. If the console is in Author mode, proceed to step 7.

In the upper-left corner of the SMS Administrator console title
bar, click the tool icon .
On the menu that opens, click User Options.
In the Options dialog box, select Always open console
files in Author mode, and then click OK.
Click the Console tab, and then select Author
Mode from the Console Mode list.
In the upper-left corner of the SMS Administrator console title
bar, click the tool icon , and then click Close.
To restart the SMS Administrator console, click the
Start button, point to Programs, Systems
Management Server, and then click
SMS Administrator Console.
On the Console menu, click Add/Remove
Snap-in.
To add the snap-in to the SMS Administrator console, in the
Snap-ins added to list, click Systems Management
Server.
Click Add.
In the Available Standalone Snap-ins dialog box, select
<snap-in_name>.
Click Add, and then click Close. The snap-in
appears in the Add/Remove Snap-in dialog box.
