SMS Service Manager Overview

You use SMS Service Manager to control the services that make up the SMS product. In SMS Service Manager, you can view the status of any SMS services or threads (referred to collectively as components) that are running on any site system. SMS components can be managed the same way you manage Windows NT SMS Service Manager; you can start, stop, pause, resume, or query SMS components.

Change from SMS 1.2    In SMS 1.2, services were poll-driven. In SMS 2.0, services are event-driven. Therefore, SMS 2.0 has no Service Response Mode to configure how frequently SMS services run; the services run as soon as there is something for them to do (typically, when a configuration file is written to a component's inbox).
