When you first install SMS, you install a single SMS site. An SMS site is a set of resources and site systems bounded by a group of local subnets, using an IP subnet or IPX network. The site is the basic SMS administrative unit. Often, you configure SMS functionality on a site-wide basis, and the site-related information that SMS gathers about resources on your network is stored in an SMS site database.
