About Status Message Properties and Property Values

Status message properties provide a consistent way for different SMS components to report status messages about SMS objects. A status message can have one of these optional properties:

Advertisement ID
A status message associated with an advertisement.
Collection ID
A status message associated with a collection.
Package ID
A status message associated with a package.
User Name
An audit message associated with a user.

Messages with properties can also have property values, which are associated with a particular instance of a property:

Advertisement ID
Can have a property value that is the ID of a particular advertisement.
Collection ID
Can have a property value that is the name of a particular collection.
Package ID
Can have a property value that is the ID of a particular package.
User Name
Can have a property value that is the name of a particular user.

Property values are determined by the SMS component issuing the message. For example, when Available Programs Manager generates a status message indicating that APM received an advertisement, APM attaches a property to the status message of Advertisement ID, and a property value that is the actual advertisement ID, such as NYC00342. You can then query, find, or filter using this property value to find all messages associated with this particular advertisement.

Not all status messages have properties, and not all those with properties have property values.
