The Create Secondary Site Wizard guides you through the steps
necessary to create a new secondary site. As you complete the
wizard, you will be prompted for the following information:
Up to 50 ASCII characters specifying the name of the new
secondary site.
Site server
The name of the Windows NT computer that will become the
new secondary site server.
Site server domain
The name of the Windows NT domain containing the computer
that will become the new secondary site server.
Processor platform
The processor chip architecture (such as Intel x86 or Alpha) of
the Windows NT computer that will become the new secondary
site server.
Installation directory
The full path (drive and directory) where SMS files will be
installed on the new secondary site server. The default is
C:\SMS.
The location of the installation source files.
You must choose one of the following:
Transfer installation source files from parent site server over
the network connection
Select this option when the secondary site does not have an
administrator who can perform the upgrade, when the secondary site
does not have direct access to the SMS 2.0 installation files,
or when the impact on intersite bandwidth is not a concern.
Installation source files are on the secondary site server
Select this option when the Systems Management Server version
2.0 compact disc (or an image of that compact disc) is available at
the secondary site and you want to minimize the impact on intersite
bandwidth.
SMS Service account
An existing account (the wizard does not create it) to be used
as the SMS Service account
on the new secondary site.
Address to secondary site
The address that the primary site will use to reach the
secondary site. The sender type (Standard
or RAS) is specified with the address.
Address to primary site
The address the secondary site will use to reach the primary
site. The sender type (Standard or RAS) is specified with the
address.
Note Different sender types can be used
for these two addresses.
