Use this tab to configure software product identification and
monitoring processes for the Software Metering component.
Product version policy
Specify the policy that identifies products by their version
numbers.
Full
Product registration policy requires an exact match to the
specified version number. For example, when you register a product
as version 2.0, the license applies only to version 2.0; it does
not apply to any other product versions, such as 2.1, 2.2, and
3.0.
Partial
Product registration policy requires only a partial match to
the specified version number. For example, when you register a
product as version 2, the license applies to all version 2 releases
of the product, such as 2.1, 2.2, and 2.2a. Similarly, if you
register a product as version 2.1, the policy includes all version
2.1 releases, such as 2.1, 2.11, and 2.12a. By default, this option
is selected.
Program name policy
Specify the name used to identify the product.
Standard
The name of the executable file that starts the program. For
example, the name Winword.exe identifies Microsoft Word for
Windows. By default, this option is selected.
Original
The program name stored in the header information of the
executable file for the program. Use this option to prevent users
from running prohibited applications by simply renaming them. You
can verify the original name of a file by viewing its properties in
Windows Explorer.
