Data Processing and Storage
Component Configuration Properties Dialog Box: General Tab
Use the General tab to schedule updates to statistics
within the SMS site database based on thresholds. When specified
numbers of
MIF files or discovery
data records (DDRs) have been processed, the statistics are
updated. In addition to the triggered updates, regularly scheduled
updates can be configured as a database maintenance task.
You can also use this tab to create warning status messages for
an SMS site database that fills beyond a predetermined
threshold.
Update database statistics
Enables the updating of database statistics based on the number
of MIF files or DDR files processed. Database statistics are used
internally by SQL Server on a table-by-table basis to optimize
performance.
After processing Management Information Format (MIF) files
Triggers an update after a specified number of MIF files are
processed.
Number of MIFs
Number of MIF files to set. This number should be based on the
number of clients that are managed by this site. To obtain a more
detailed view of MIF file activity (so that you can determine
appropriate baselines), you can use Performance Monitor. The
default value is 500 MIF files. Valid entries range from 1 through
9999 MIF files.
After processing discovery data records (DDRs)
Triggers an update after a specified number of DDRs are
processed.
Number of DDRs
Number of DDR files to set. This number should be based on the
number of clients that are managed by this site. Administrators can
view the detailed DDR activity by using the Windows Performance
Monitor. The default is 1500 DDRs. Valid entries range from 1
through 9999 DDRS.
Create status object after database is filled to a specified
amount
Enables the creation of a status warning message when the
database reaches a specified capacity (measured as a percentage of
the total database capacity).
Amount
Percent full at which to trigger the warning message. By
default, the system creates a status warning message when the
database is 80 percent full. Valid entries range from 20 percent
through 99 percent.
Note This feature does not apply in
SQL Server version 7.0. If you are using SQL Server
version 7.0, your database should be configured to
auto-grow.
