About the SMS Server Network Connection Account

The SMS Server Network Connection account (SMSServer_sitecode) is used by:

• SMS services on the site server, to access the site systems (if the SMS Service account fails).
• The SMS NT Logon Discovery Agent service, to access the site server when transferring discovery data.
• Inbox Manager Assistant running on a remote CAP, to access the site server when transferring data.
• SMS services on remote site systems, to access the SMS registry keys and specific directories on the site server.
• SMS, to retrieve inventory data from CAPs.
• SMS services on site systems, to establish communication with the site server.

SMS Setup creates this account on the site server and adds it to the Domain Users group in the site server's domain. The account has Read permission on the Sms directory, Full Control permission on the SMS_SITE share on the site server, and permission to write DDRs.

You can create multiple accounts on logon points, and SMS will try each in turn until the connection is successful. Create an account for each domain in the site.
