The Inventory Tool for Custom Updates is upgraded or repaired by running the latest version of Setup. The following operations are performed for each.
Upgrading the Inventory Tool for Custom Updates
When a new version of the Inventory Tool for Custom Updates is available, run Setup to perform the following upgrade operations:
- Updates or replaces old or missing inventory scan tool
files
- Re-creates the scan package source if it is missing
- Compiles reports
- Setup does not change any distribution settings or re-create
any SMS objects during the upgrade.
Repairing the Inventory Tool for Custom Updates
When Setup runs with the same version as the installed Inventory Tool for Custom Updates, it proceeds with the installation in repair mode. During Setup, the following repair operations are performed:
- Replaces missing inventory scan tool files
- Re-creates the scan package source
- Compiles reports
Setup does not change any distribution settings or re-create any SMS objects during the upgrade.
