As described earlier, Setup creates two collections for distributing the SMS 2003 R2 Inventory Tool for Custom Updates to SMS Advanced Clients.
The Custom Updates Tool (pre-production) collection contains in its direct membership the test computer specified during Setup. If you want additional test computers, create a direct query rule to add them to the collection.
When the SMS 2003 R2 Inventory Tool for Custom Updates scans the test computer as expected, remove the Limit to collection option on the Custom Updates Tool collection so it becomes a true query-based collection and includes all Advanced Clients.
To remove the limit-to-collection option-
In the SMS Administrator console, navigate to Custom Updates Tool in the Collections node:

Right-click Custom Updates Tool collection and click Properties to open the Custom Updates Tool Collection Properties dialog box.

Click the Membership Rules tab, right-click the Collection Query membership rule, and click Properties to open the Query Rule Properties dialog box.

Set the Collection limiting option to Not collection limited.

Click OK to exit the dialog boxes.

Click the Custom Updates Tool collection in the left pane of the SMS Administrator console under the Collections node. Verify that all computers that you want to manage are listed in the right pane.
If you prefer not to use the Custom Updates Tool collection, you can modify the Custom Updates Tool advertisement to be delivered to any collection.
