The Windows Version basic rule is used when creating or modifying custom updates in the Custom Updates Publishing Tool. Most often it is used as a prerequisite type rule. The specified Windows version is verified with what is found on the client. If the rule does not pass verification, the custom update is considered not needed on the client. The Windows Version property has the following configuration settings:
- Comparison: Specifies whether the Windows version on the
client is less than, less than or equal to, equal to, greater than
or equal to, or greater than the configured version. This is a
required field.
- Major Version: Specifies the major version of Windows on
the client. Refer to the table in this topic for a list of
different Windows versions. The default value is set to 5, with
possible values of 4, 5, and 6. This is a required field.
- Minor Version: Specifies the minor version of Windows on
the client. Refer to the table in this topic for a list of
different Windows versions. The default value is set to 0. This is
an optional field.
- SP Major Version: Specifies the Service Pack major
version for Windows on the client. The default value is set to 0.
This is an optional field.
- SP Minor Version: Specifies the Service Pack minor
version for Windows on the client. The default value is set to 0.
This is an optional field.
- Build Number: Specifies the build number of Windows on
the client. This is an optional field.
- Product Type: Specifies whether the client is a
Workstation, Domain Controller, or Server. This is an optional
field.
