Use the following procedure to remove a host cluster from Virtual Machine Manager. The cluster and its nodes are removed from the VMM database and from Hosts view, but the actual cluster and the associated virtual machine configurations are unchanged. You can continue to manage the host cluster outside VMM.

When you remove a host cluster, the Virtual Machine Manager agent is removed from each node in the cluster unless the nodes are serving also as library servers in VMM. In that case, the Host role is removed and the VMM agent remains in place.

To remove a host cluster from Virtual Machine Manager
  1. In Hosts view, in the navigation pane, select the host cluster you want to remove.

  2. In the Actions pane, under Host Cluster, click Remove host cluster.

  3. At the confirmation prompt, click Yes.

  4. In the Remove Hosts dialog box, enter the credentials for an account that has administrator rights on all nodes in the cluster, and then click OK.

Removing the host cluster may take several minutes. You can monitor the status of the job in Jobs view.
