Before you install System Center Reporting Manager (SCRM) 2006, review the following topics:

This attended method of installation installs the SCRM Data Warehouse, Reports (into the reports directory), and the SCRM Administrator console on the local server. The setup program includes the Setup Wizard and the Prerequisite Checker incorporated into the Setup Wizard.

Note
SCRM can be installed only by using an account that belongs to the local Administrators group on the server where SCRM is installed. Likewise, SCRM 2006 can be uninstalled only by an account that belongs to the local Administrators group on the SCRM server.

To install Microsoft System Center Reporting Manager 2006

  1. Insert the System Center Reporting Manager 2006 CD in your CD drive, or double-click Setup.exe to launch the Setup Wizard.

  2. Read and accept the End-User License Agreement, and on the Registration Information page, enter your user name, organization, and your 25-digit CD key, which is found on the back of the CD case. Click Next.

  3. On the System Center Reporting Manager Data Destination Folder and Share page, enter the share name in the ShareName text box. The default value is SCRMSMSShare. Click Change if you want to change the share destination folder to open the Change Current Destination Folder page, where you can specify a folder to stage SMS data and then click OK. Click Next.

  4. On the SQL Server Reporting Services Server page, enter a computer name or leave the default computer name in the Enter the SQL Server Reporting Services Server Name box. In the Enter the Report Server Virtual Directory name box, enter a virtual directory name or leave the default value. In the Enter the Report Manager Virtual Directory name box, enter the Report Manager directory name. Click Next.

    If you have SQL Server Reporting Services 2005 and SQL Server Reporting Services 2000 installed on the same server, ensure that you review the SQL Server Reporting Services Virtual Directory Names section of SCRM 2006 Supported Configurations.
  5. The Prerequisite Check result page is displayed. If the Prerequisite Check Failed page is displayed, click View Log for details about failed components, minimum requirements, and detected values. For information about hardware and software prerequisites, see SCRM 2006 Hardware and Software Requirements. If the Prerequisite Check Passed page is displayed, click Next.

  6. On the SQL Server Database Instance page, choose the name of the local SQL database instance that you want to host the System Center Reporting Manager database. Setup automatically starts the Microsoft SQL Server and the SQL Server Agent services if they are not running. Click Next.

  7. On the Presentation, Staging and Configuration Database Size page, enter the database size for each database. For more information about calculating the space required, see SCRM 2006 Database Requirements. Click Next.

  8. On the Data and Log File Information page, you can choose the data file and log file locations for each database. To change the default file location, click Configure. Otherwise, click Next.

  9. On the Reporting User Account page, specify the credentials used by SCRM 2006 to connect to the Reporting Database. Click Next

  10. On the Ready to Install page, click Install to start installation, or you can click Back to review and change any of your installation settings. You can also click Cancel to exit the Setup Wizard.

  11. When installation is complete, the Completing the Microsoft System Center Reporting Manager 2006 Setup Wizard page appears. On this page, you can click Launch the System Center Reporting Manager 2006 Administrator console to open the SCRM 2006 Administrator console, or you can click Finish to close the wizard.
