During the synchronization of SMS data, data is moved from the SMS source database and stored in files on the SMS server. On each SMS source system, a file system is created to store the extracted SMS data before it is moved to the server hosting the SCRM 2006 data warehouse. The default location for the file system is C:\Program Files\Microsoft System Center Reporting Manager\<location> on the SMS site server.
The following folders are created under the installation directory:
- Bin
- Extraction
- Log
- Script
The System Center Reporting Manager directory on the SMS site server has ACL permissions set as shown in the following table.

The service that executes the extraction of SMS data needs to be run under an account that is a member of the SC DW SMS DTS user group. Use of the Local System account is recommended.
