MonitoringConnector.InitializeForTiers Method (DateTime, IList)

Updated: April 16, 2012

Initializes the monitoring connector that is required to get alerts by calling GetMonitoringAlertsForTiers, and sets the BookMark time to a specified date and time, for all tiered Management Groups. The failures that occurred for the configured tiers are returned. Namespace: Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.ConnectorFramework
Assembly: Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.OperationsManager (in Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.OperationsManager.dll)Dim instance As MonitoringConnector Dim utcBookmarkTime As DateTime Dim failures As IList(Of ConnectorTieredOperationFailure) instance.InitializeForTiers(utcBookmarkTime, failures)Public Sub InitializeForTiers ( _ utcBookmarkTime As DateTime, _ <OutAttribute> ByRef failures As IList(Of ConnectorTieredOperationFailure) _ )public void InitializeForTiers ( DateTime utcBookmarkTime, out IList<ConnectorTieredOperationFailure> failures )public: void InitializeForTiers ( DateTime utcBookmarkTime, [OutAttribute] IList<ConnectorTieredOperationFailure^>^% failures )public void InitializeForTiers ( DateTime utcBookmarkTime, /** @attribute OutAttribute() */ /** @ref */ IList<ConnectorTieredOperationFailure> failures )ParametersutcBookmarkTimeThe date and time value to which the bookmark for this monitoring connector is initially set.failuresThe array of failures that may have occurred for various tiers

The MonitoringConnector must be set up and initialized before any alerts can be retrieved. This method initializes the monitoring connector for subsequent calls with the currently stored bookmark.

Attempting to InitializeForTiers a monitoring connector that is already initialized results in an exception with the "The connector is already in the given state." warning. It is advisable to perform a check of the Initialized property to determine if the monitoring connector is already initialized before attempting to InitializeForTiers the monitoring connector.
