The following procedure shows you how to remove a device group in Mobile Device Manager (MDM) Software Distribution Console. You can remove any device group except for the Unassigned Devicesgroup or the All Devicesgroup. If the device group that you remove contains a nested device group, you will also remove the nested device group. If the device group that you want to remove contains managed Windows Mobile devices, and you do not move the managed devices from the group that you are removing, the managed devices will become members of the Unassigned Devicesgroup. However, they will remain members of the All Devicesgroup.

To remove a device group

  1. In the navigation pane, expand Devices.

  2. Right-click the device group you want to remove and then select Delete.

  3. If the group you want remove, or a child of the group you want to remove, contains devices, a dialog box will appear that prompts you to decide what to do with the managed devices. Select one of the following options:

    • Remove the devices from this group

    • Move the devices to this group's parent group

    • Remove the devices from this Mobile Device Manager Software Distribution server

  4. Choose Remove.
