The following procedure shows you how to create an IP address pool for devices by using Mobile Device Manager (MDM) Device Management Server. MDM Device Management Server lets you remotely set an IP address pool on MDM Gateway Server that managed Windows Mobile devices use.

Important:
The IP addresses on MDM Gateway Server cannot fall within the range of IP addresses in the IP address pool. Make sure that when you create the IP address pool, the range excludes IP addresses for MDM Gateway Server. The IP address pool must be on a unique subnet, not in the same subnet as MDM Gateway Server, and its address range cannot overlap with existing subnets in your network.

To create an IP address pool for remote devices

  1. On the Startmenu, on a computer that is running MDM Administrator Console, point to All Programs, point to Microsoft System Center Mobile Device Manager, and then select Mobile Device Manager Console.

  2. In the navigation pane, expand Mobile Device Manager, and then select Gateway Management.

  3. In the details pane, right-click the server that you want to configure, and then select Properties.

  4. Select the Address Pooltab and then choose Add. The Network Subnetdialog box appears.

  5. In the IP Addressbox, type the IP address at the beginning of the range, and then supply the appropriate subnet mask. The remaining addresses in that subnet add to the address pool automatically. Each address pool can contain up to 65,535 addresses. The subnet mask must have its first two bytes as 255 and 255, for example, 255.255.0.0.
