Microsoft® Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) lets you deploy the latest Microsoft product updates to computers that are running a Windows-based operating system. By using WSUS, you can fully manage the distribution of updates released through Microsoft Update to computers in your company network.

System Center Mobile Device Manager (MDM) lets you deploy software and updates to managed Windows Mobile devices by using a software distribution console, MDM Software Distribution Console, which is specific to MDM. MDM Software Distribution Console resembles a WSUS console. After you install MDM Administrator Tools, you can use MDM Software Distribution Console to manage Windows Mobile devices for your company.

Consider the following when you install WSUS for use with MDM:

Note:

MDM Connect Now Tool is a client-side tool to get the latest software updates from the server. The tool provides schedule details such as previous and next runtime schedule, and provides the option to get current software updates. Log files can help in troubleshooting device-related issues.
