The following procedures describe how to use the System Center Mobile Device Manager (MDM) Group Policy (GP) extensions to configure a dial-up circuit switched data (CSD) connection to the Internet or to the company network.
Configuring a Dial-up (CSD) Internet Connection
The following procedure assumes that you are required to provide a user name and password. If you are not required to provide a user name and password, make sure that you clear the This connection requires a user name and a passwordcheck box.
To configure a dial-up Internet connection

In the Group Policy Management Console, expand Group Policy Objectsand then locate the target GPO.

Right-click the GPO and then select Edit.

In the Group Policy Object Editor, expand Windows Mobile Settings.

Right-click Network Connectionsand then select New Network Connection.

In the Welcome to the Network Connection Wizarddialog box, choose Next.

In the Connection Typedialog box, choose Dial-up (CSD)and then choose Next.

In the Configure a new dial-up connectiondialog box, type the connection name in the Connection Namebox, and then type the telephone number in the Phone numberbox.

In the Connects Tolist, select Internet.

Select This connection requires a username and password.

If you want to prevent the user from changing these settings, select Do not allow the user to change the connection settings.

Choose Next.

In the Configure the Dial-up (CSD) connectiondialog box, type the user name and then type the password.

In the Authentication Typelist, select the authentication type and then choose Next.

In the Completing the Network Connection Wizarddialog box, review the summary information to verify that it is correct. You can go back to change information if it is necessary.

Choose Finish.
Configuring a Dial-up (CSD) Work Connection
The following procedure assume that you connect to the network through a proxy server and that you are required to provide a user name and password.
If you are not required to connect through a proxy server, make sure that you clear the Configure how this work connection allows access to the Internetcheck box.
If you are not required to provide a user name and password, make sure that you clear the This connection requires a user name and a passwordcheck box.
If you are not required to connect to a proxy server, or to provide a user name and password, make sure that you clear both check boxes.
To configure a dial-up work connection

In the Group Policy Management Console, expand Group Policy Objectsand locate the target GPO.

Right-click the GPO and then select Edit.

In the Group Policy Object Editor, expand Windows Mobile Settings.

Right-click Network Connectionsand then select New Network Connection.

In the Welcome to the Network Connection Wizarddialog box, choose Next.

In the Connection Typedialog box, choose Dial-up (CSD)and then choose Next.

In the Configure a new dial-up connectiondialog box, type the connection name in the Connection Namebox, and then type the telephone number in the Phone numberbox.

In the Connects Tolist, select Work.

Select Configure how this work connection allows access to the Internet.

Select This connection requires a username and password.

If you want to prevent the user from changing these settings, select Do not allow the user to change the connection settings.

Choose Next.

In the Configure the Dial-up (CSD) connectiondialog box, type the user name and then type the password.

In the Authentication Typelist, select the authentication type and then choose Next.
To select a proxy server, use one of the following methods:

In the Proxy Configurationdialog box, select a proxy server in the Existing proxieslist. Or if your proxy server is not listed, follow these steps:
- Choose
Add.
- In the
Configure New Proxydialog box, type the description of the
proxy connection in the
Descriptionbox, and then type the proxy server address and
port number in the
Proxy (Host:Port)box.
- In the
Proxy Typelist, select the type of proxy.
- In the
Proxy Address Typelist, select the proxy address type.
- If you want to prevent the user from changing these settings,
select
Do not allow the user to change the proxy settings.
- Choose
OK.
- Choose
Add.

Choose Next.

In the Completing the Network Connection Wizarddialog box, review the summary information to verify that it is correct. You can go back to change information if it is necessary.

Choose Finish.
