Placing a computer object and all contained instances in maintenance mode in System Center Essentials 2010 will suppress all alerts on the console for a specific duration. The HealthService and HealthServiceWatcher services for that object are also put into maintenance mode. When you start maintenance mode and specify the duration to suppress alerts for selected objects, the following features will be temporarily suspended:

To suppress alerts from a computer object

  1. In the Monitoring pane, expand Monitoring, and then click Windows Computers. Click the computer state view in the monitoring tree.

  2. Select the computer, and click Start Maintenance Mode in the Tasks pane.

  3. Select which objects will be affected by the suppression of alerts, select a category of maintenance, select the check box if the maintenance is planned, specify the duration, and then click OK.
