1. Start the Add Monitoring Wizard.

   Note
   For information about starting the Add Monitoring Wizard, see How to Start the Add Monitoring Wizard in System Center Essentials.

2. On the Select Monitoring Type page, select Windows Service, and then click Next.

3. On the Windows Service Name and Description page, do the following:

   1. Type the Name for the object, such as SNMP Service.
      
      
   2. Optionally, type the Description for the monitor.
      
      
   3. Select a Management pack from the list, such as Default Management Pack, or click New to create a Management Pack with the Create a Management Pack Wizard.
      
      

      Note
      The object type will be added to the specified Management Pack; therefore, only unsealed Management Packs are listed.

   4. Click Next.
      
      

4. On the Service Name page, click the (…) button.

5. In the Select Windows dialog box, do the following:

   1. Type or click the (…) button to browse to the Computer Name that runs the service.
      
      
   2. In Select service, select the desired service, such as SNMP Service.
      
      

      Note
      Only services created with the SERVICE_WIN32_OWN_PROCESS are displayed. To monitor services created with SERVICE_WIN32_SHARE_PROCESS, create a unit monitor.

   3. Click OK.
      
      

6. On the Service Name page, click Create.
