By default, Capacity Planner models one user database instance monitored by a SQL Server Management Pack. If multiple database instances are actually monitored, more alerts, events, performance data, and state changes can occur than is specified in the default usage profile of a SQL Server Management Pack.

To model multiple database instances monitored by the SQL Server Management Pack

  1. In the General Actions pane, click Edit usage profiles.

  2. Click Client Defaults, and then click the SQL Server 2000/SQL Server 2005 MP tab.

  3. Add the usage profile values for each additional database instance to the following fields:

    • Number of alerts sent per agent per day
    • Number of performance data items sent per agent per day
    • Number of state changes sent per agent per day
    • Number of events sent per agent per day
