In Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2007, the Asset Intelligence feature provides data about hardware inventory, software inventory, and license management. Asset Intelligence has as its foundation the Asset Intelligence Knowledge Base, which is a set of database tables that support categorization of software and hardware products.

Enhanced software and hardware inventory, provided by Asset Intelligence, gives you information, such as processor age and speed, hardware readiness for specific software upgrades, autostart software, browser helper objects, Client Access License (CAL) usage, and Vista activation. You can use this information to detect unintentional software piracy or extra purchased licenses, malware, downloaded software that might violate corporate policy, and more. For more information about Asset Intelligence, see the TechCenter article, About Collecting Asset Intelligence Information.
