Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2007 uses a number of Managed Object Format (MOF) files to define its classes and other programming elements. Many of these files are available in the Configuration Manager SDK for your reference in preparing your applications and scripts. These files are installed in %ProgramFiles%\Microsoft Configuration Manager\bin\i386.
Basic MOF Files
A number of MOF files are used to define the basics of Configuration Manager. It is very important for you to leave these files as they are and never try to modify them. Their modification will compromise the operation of Configuration Manager, the clients, and the SMS Provider.
Modifiable MOF Files
Currently the only MOF files that you can modify are:
- SMS_def.mof. Configuration Manager definitions.
- Configuration.mof. Configuration information.
