Planning for Migration to Configuration Manager 2012

Updated: May 1, 2011

Applies To: System Center Configuration Manager 2012

Before you migrate Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2007 data to a new Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2012 hierarchy, ensure that you are familiar with the changes to Configuration Manager 2012 sites and the hierarchy. For more information, see Planning for Sites and Hierarchies in Configuration Manager 2012.

You must first install and configure your Configuration Manager 2012 hierarchy before you can migrate data from your existing Configuration Manager 2007 infrastructure. Plan and configure the management features and functions that you use before you start to migrate data from Configuration Manager 2007.
