In this exercise, you will run an existing Configuration Manager report and review specific report elements.

To run an existing Configuration Manager report
  1. Open the Configuration Manager console.

  2. Navigate to System Center Configuration Manager / Site Database / Computer Management / Reporting / Reports. The Configuration Manager reports display in the Report pane.

  3. Find and right-click the Processor information for a specific computer report, and then click Run. The Report Information window displays, as well as a report prompt for the computer name.

    Tip
To make it easier to search for a report, you can click a column title to sort the reports or you can type the name of the report (or a partial name) into the Look for text box and then click Find Now. Click Clear to remove the filter.
  4. Click Values. A list of the client computers is displayed in the Select Value dialog box.

  5. Take note of one of the computer names listed in the dialog box, and then close the dialog box without selecting a value.

  6. Type the first three letters of the computer name followed by the percent symbol (%) in the Computer Name text box, and then click Values. The client computer should display along with any other computers that start with the same three letters.

    Note
When a report prompt does not have an associated SQL statement, the Values button is disabled. You will learn more about the SQL statement for a report prompt in Exercise 2: Review the Properties for an Existing Configuration Manager Report.
  7. Select the computer from the list, and then click Display. The report displays showing the processor information for the client computer.

  8. Click the report link icon, which is an arrow in a box, located in the far left column for the first row in the report. The Computer information for a specific computer report opens with the computer name automatically populating the Computer Name report prompt for the report.

    Note
The report link icon is active only when a report link is configured for the current report. For more information about report links, see Exercise 2: Review the Properties for an Existing Configuration Manager Report.
  9. Click the report link icon for the first row in the report. The Computer Details Web page, another report link type, opens for the client computer.

  10. Close the report windows.
