Administering the audit log

Your provisioning system design should specify the auditing support required for each namespace and its procedures. The audit log requires no daily maintenance.

If specific conditions require changes in auditing support, you can use Provisioning Manager to administer the audit log as follows:

• Activate or deactivate auditing for each procedure

  By default, auditing is disabled for most procedures.

• View information about the audit log

  The information provided in Provisioning Manager about the audit log includes the name of the server hosting the audit log and the name of the database where the audit log resides.

Caution

• All MPF databases, including MPFConfig, MPFAudit, MPFTranLogData, MPFSample, and Resource Manager, are SQL databases. You can access the audit log directly by using SQL Server Enterprise Manager to access MPFAudit. However, this is the only database you should access directly in SQL. Directly accessing the MPFConfig, MPFTranLogData, MPFSample, and Resource Manager databases can cause database corruption, transaction processing errors, and the loss of data. Access these databases using Configuration Database Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) Provider only.
