The Gateway Approval tool is a command-line tool that is installed on the computer hosting the management server (or root management server) role in the management group. For more information, see How to Deploy the Gateway Approval Tool in Operations Manager 2007.

Note
You cannot use this tool remotely.

To ensure proper operation, you need to disable Auto-approve new manually installed agents before using the Gateway Approval tool. See How to Configure Security for Manual Agent Installs Setting for an Operations Manager 2007 Management Group

To use the Gateway Approval tool

  1. Log on to the computer with an account that is a member of the Administrators group.

    Note
    Ensure that the account you log in with, while running the Gateway Approval Tool, has Write user rights to the Operations Manager database. For example, you can run the Gateway Approval Tool with the same credentials that you specified for the SDK and Config account.
  2. On the Windows desktop, click Start, and then click Run.

  3. In the Run dialog box, type cmd and then click OK.

  4. At the command prompt, type cd\<path to Operations Manager> and then press ENTER.

  5. Type the following:

    Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.GatewayApprovalTool /ManagementServerName=FQDN_name /GatewayName=gateway_server_FQDN_name

  6. Press ENTER.
