Create a New Diagram View

Create a new Diagram view by using the Navigation pane in the MOM Operator console.

Members of MOM Administrators and MOM Authors can create new views anywhere in an active view, Views, or My Views. Members of MOM Users can create a new view only in My Views.

You can create a new view in any existing folder, or create a new folder. To create a new folder, right-click an existing folder, point to New, and then click Folder.

To create a new Diagram view in My Views

  1. In the Navigation pane, click Diagram, right-click the folder for the rule group where you want to create the view, point to New, and click Diagram Viewto open the Create New - Diagram Viewdialog box.
  2. Accept or change the default settings, and then click Nextto continue.
  3. In the View namebox, type a name. You can optionally type a description in the View Descriptionbox. Accept or change the settings for Optimize diagram layout when number of items reachesand Maximum number of objects to display on surface.
  4. Click Finishcomplete the creation of the view.

Example

The procedure in the following example creates a new Diagram view for Exchange servers. The example assumes that the Exchange Management Packs are installed.

  1. In the Navigation pane, click Diagram, right-click the folder for the rule group where you want to create the view, point to New, and click Diagram Viewto open the Create New - Diagram Viewdialog box.
  2. In the Select a diagram typelist, select Exchange, and then click Nextto accept the other default settings and continue.

    The default settings for diagram layout and rendering vary according to the type of diagram. If you compare the Exchange diagram defaults to the Operations Manager diagram defaults, you see that: the Routing Styleis Networkand the Node placement styleis Undirected.

  3. In the View Namebox, type MyNewDiagram. In the Descriptionbox, type A sample Diagram view.
  4. Click Finish.
