Create a New Alerts View

Create a new Alerts view by using the Navigation pane in the MOM Operator console.

Members of MOM Administrators and MOM Authors can create new views anywhere in an active view, Public Views, or My Views. Members of MOM Users can create a new view only in My Views.

You can create a new Alerts view in any existing folder, or create a new folder. To create a new folder, right-click an existing folder and point to New, and click Folder.

To create a new Alerts view

  1. In the Navigation pane, click Alerts, right-click the folder for the rule group where you want to create the view, point to New, and then click Alerts Viewto open the Create New - Alerts Viewdialog box.
  2. In the list below Which type of alert view do you want to create?, select the view that you want.
  3. The View descriptionlist is dynamically populated with criteria that correspond to your selection. Click Nextto continue.
  4. Depending on the alert that you selected, an additional dialog box is displayed. Under Which alerts do you want to view?, select the check box beside the alerts that you want to view. Each enabled alert automatically creates a hyperlink under View Description (click the underlined value to edit).
  5. Click each link to open a dialog box to provide more information that is used to select the alert. When finished entering this information, click OK.
  6. Click Nextto continue.
  7. In the View namebox, type a name. You can optionally type a description in the Descriptionbox.
  8. Click Finishto complete the creation of the view.

Example

The procedure in the following example creates a new alert view that is associated with an alert severity level of "Warning."

  1. In the console tree of the Navigation pane, right-click the folder for the rule group where you want to create the view, point to New, and then click Alerts Viewto open the Create New - Alerts Viewdialog box.
  2. Select Alerts that satisfy specified criteria, and then click Next.
  3. In the Which type of alert view do you want to create?list, select the specified alert severitycheck box.
  4. In the View Description (click the underlined value to edit)viewing area, click specified alertto open the Severitydialog box.
  5. Click the Warningcheck box, and then click OK.
  6. Click Nextto continue.
  7. In the View Namebox, type MyNewAlert. In the Descriptionbox, type A Sample New Alert View.
  8. Click Finish.
