The available data for Diagram view is displayed in the Results
pane when you click the diagram name in the Navigation pane of the
MOM Operator console. You can also click the diagram name in
Public Viewsor
My Viewsin the Navigation pane. The Diagram view
presents a graphical representation of the MOM management group to
which you are connected.
By default, all of the data for all of the computer groups in
the scope that you are using is displayed. For example, if you are
logged on with an account that is a member of the MOM Administrator
group, you can see all of the data for the MOM Administrator Scope.
If you want to refine the selection of data in the Results pane,
select a specific computer group in the MOM Administrator Scope
from the
Computer Grouplist, such as
Microsoft Operations Manager 2005 Agents.
The default diagram type is
Computer Group Containment, consequently, you
might see only the top level computer group. In the Results pane,
to expand the selected computer group to show its subgroups, click
the plus (+) sign on the toolbar. This icon expands the diagram one
level. To contract the diagram, click the minus (-) sign.

To see or change the Diagram view properties, right-click
anywhere on the diagram in the Results pane, and click
Diagram View Propertiesto open the
Diagram View Propertiesdialog box. You can make
changes in two tabs:
Diagram Settingsand
General.

Diagram Settings
- This tab provides the following options.

Diagram Type
- Specifies the type of diagram that is displayed. The default
option is
Computer Group Containmentthat is associated with
the MOM Management Pack. The drop-down list is automatically
populated with diagram types for each management pack that you
install.

Number of levels to display
- Specifies the number of levels to display. The options are
Allor an integer value from 1 to 10.

Routing style
- Specifies the routing style that determines how objects in the
diagram are laid out on the screen. The options are:
Straight,
Network,
Center to Center,
Org Chart (North-South), and
Tree (North-South).

Node placement style
- Specifies how the nodes are placed in relation to the MOM
Management Server. The options are:
Undirected,
North-South,
West-East,
South-North,
East-West, and
Circular.

Node placement depth
- Specifies how far apart the nodes are placed. The options are:
Shallow,
Medium, and
Deep.

Rendering quality
- Specifies the rendering quality for the image. The options are:
High Speedand
High Quality. The default value is
High Speed.

Background image
- Specifies a background image for the diagram. By default, no
images are used.
If you want to add a background image, click
Background Imagesto view and select the available
background images.

General
- This tab provides the following options.

View name
- Specifies the view name.

View description
- Specifies an optional view description.

Thresholds
- Specifies the following values:
-
Optimize diagram layout when number of items
reaches. The default value is 250.

Maximum number of items to display. The default
value is 1000.
You can also view and make changes to a diagram view with the
options on the
Diagram Views toolbar. Select from the following
toolbar icons.

Diagram View Properties
- Click to open the Diagram View Properties dialog box mentioned
above.

Print the Diagram
- Click to print the selected diagram object.

Export to Microsoft Visio
- Click to open the
Save diagram as a Visio .VDX filedialog box. To
save the diagram as a Visio file, type a filename and click
Save.

Zoom in, Zoom out
- Click these icons to either zoom in or out on the diagram
view.

Expand one level, Contract one level
- Click these icons to either expand or contract a hierarchical
diagram.

Relayout diagram
- After you zoom in or out of a diagram, click this icon to
return to the default view.

View diagram legend
- Click to open the diagram legend window. The diagram legend
contains the icons that represent the objects and states that you
see in the diagram view.
Pivoting to Other Views
You can obtain additional information when working with the
Diagram view by opening another view from the diagram. Right-click
any of the diagram objects, click
View, and then click an option on the fly-out
menu. For example, if you select a computer diagram object, the
menu contains options to view alerts, events, computer detail, or
performance.
