MOM Reports

Several predefined reports are provided with the Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) 2005 Management Pack. The following table summarizes these reports and their content.

These reports are organized by the following categories:

Microsoft Operations Manager

The following table summarizes the available reports in the Microsoft Operations Manager category. This category displays all of the reports except for those in the Operational Data Reporting category.

Operational Data Reporting

The following table summarizes the available reports in the Operational Data Reporting category.

Name Description
Agent Configuration This report provides configuration information for MOM agents. The required input and available parameters are as follows:
  • Management Group(must be specified).
  • Primary Server(default is ALL).
  • Agent(default is ALL).
  • Sort by—You can sort the results by:  Agent(default), Agent Version, Applied Software Updates, Management Group, Primary Management Server, Secondary Management Server, and Action Account Identity.

You can also specify whether you want the results in ascending or descending order.

Agent CPU Usage Detail This report provides a summary of CPU usage for all the agents for a specified period. The required input and available parameters are as follows:
  • Begin Dateand End Dateto set a date range for the report.
  • Agent.
  • Sort by—You can sort the results by:   Agent(default), Agent Version, Applied Software Updates, Management Group, Primary Management Server, Secondary Management Server, and Action Account Identity.

You can also specify whether you want the results in ascending or descending order.

Agent CPU Usage Summary This report graphs CPU usage for an agent for a specified period. The required input and available parameters are as follows:
  • Begin Dateand End Dateto set a date range for the report.
  • Sort by—You can sort the results by:   Agent(default), and CPU Usage.

 You can also specify whether you want the results in ascending or descending order.

Agent Events This report provides the key agent health-related events collected by MOM. The required input and available parameters are as follows:
  • Begin Dateand End Dateto set a date range for the report.
  • Computer(must be specified).
  • Event Type(default is ALL).
  • Sort by—You can sort the results by:   Time(default), Event ID, Description, Computer Name, Event Type, and Source.

 You can also specify whether you want the results in ascending or descending order.

Agent Health Summary This report provides a summary of key health statistics related to agent performance. The required input and available parameters are as follows:
  • Begin Dateand End Dateto set a date range for the report.
  • Computer Group(must be specified).
  • Sort by—You can sort the results by:   Computer(default), Starts, Stops, and Crashes.

You can also specify whether you want the results in ascending or descending order.

Agent Installation Events This report provides agent installation events collected by MOM. The required input and available parameters are as follows:
  • Begin Dateand End Dateto set a date range for the report.
  • Computer(must be specified).
  • Event Type(default is ALL).
  • Sort by—You can sort the results by:   Time(default), Event ID, Description, Computer Name, and Event Type.

 You can also specify whether you want the results in ascending or descending order.

Agent Uptime by Computer This report provides the agent uptime data collected by MOM. The required input and available parameters are as follows:
  • Begin Dateand End Dateto set a date range for the report.
  • Computer Group(must be specified).
  • Sort by—You can sort the results by:   Computer Name(default), Agent Uptime, and System Uptime.

You can also specify whether you want the results in ascending or descending order.

Alert Logging Latency This report provides information about the latency between the time an alert is generated and the time it is stored in the database. The required input and available parameters are as follows:
  • Begin Dateand End Dateto set a date range for the report.
  • Computer Group(must be specified).
  • Sort by—You can sort the results by:   Computer(default), Number of Alerts, Avg Seconds, Min Seconds, and Max Seconds.

 You can also specify whether you want the results in ascending or descending order.

Computer Discovery Events This report provides information about the computer discovery events generated by MOM. The required input and available parameters are as follows:
  • Begin Dateand End Dateto set a date range for the report.
  • Management Server(must be specified).
  • Sort by—You can sort the results by:   Time(default), Event ID, Description, Computer Name, and Event Type.

 You can also specify whether you want the results in ascending or descending order.

Event Logging Latency This report provides information about the latency between the time an event is raised and the time it is stored in the database. The required input and available parameters are as follows:
  • Begin Dateand End Dateto set a date range for the report.
  • Computer Group(must be specified).
  • Sort by—You can sort the results by:   Computer(default), Number of Events, Avg Seconds, Min Seconds, and Max Seconds.

 You can also specify whether you want the results in ascending or descending order.

Management Group Agents The report lists the management servers in a management group and the agents that report to each of the management servers. You need to identify:
  • Management Group.
MOM Health Summary This report provides a summary of MOM health indicators for key components and services. The required input and available parameters are as follows:
  • Begin Dateand End Dateto set a date range for the report.
  • Computer Group(must be specified).
MOM Performance Analysis This report provides a graph of the volume of data collected by MOM as well as the latency for related to storing this data in the database. The required input and available parameters are as follows:
  • Begin Dateand End Dateto set a date range for the report.
Operations Manager 2005 Licenses in Use The report displays the number of Operations Manager 2005 licenses that are required, based on the number of computers that are in use.
Name Description
All Microsoft Operations Manager Alerts and Events Displays all MOM Alerts and Events in the last seven days.
Management Group Health Displays management group configuration information and provides a summary of event, alert, and performance counter activity for the last seven days. The report also provides detailed information for the following: Top 100 Alerts by Volume, Installed rule groups (with enabled state), Installed computer groups (with enabled state and count), Top 50 Events, Top 20 alerts with the longest average time to resolve, and Top 20 alerts with the largest total operational cost (Average time to resolve # of Alerts).
Script and Response Errors Displays all MOM script and response errors in the last seven days.

Operational Health Analysis

The following table summarizes the available reports in the Operational Health Analysis category. This category is a subset of the Microsoft Operations Manager category.

Name Description
Alert Analysis This report provides a list of the alerts matching the criteria specified in the report parameters. Report data can be refined by specifying additional parameters. The required input and available parameters are as follows:
  • Begin Dateand End Dateto set a date range for the report.
  • Computer Group(must be specified).
  • Alert Name(default is ALL).
  • Provider Instance Name(default is ALL).
  • Rule Group(default is ALL).
  • Sort by—You can sort the results by:  Time, Alert Name, Repeat Count(default), Computer Name, Processing Rule Group, and Provider Instance.

 You can also specify whether you want the results in ascending or descending order. You can display the properties of a single alert by clicking its name in the body of the report.

Alert Resolution Times This report provides the time difference between when alerts are raised and when they are resolved, categorized by the computer on which the alert was raised. The required input and available parameters are as follows:
  • Begin Dateand End Dateto set a date range for the report.
  • Computer Group(must be specified).
  • Sort by—You can sort the results by:  Computer(default), Number of Alerts, Avg Time, Min Time, and Max Time.

 You can also specify whether you want the results in ascending or descending order.

Alerts by Severity by Computer Group This report provides the number of alerts that are raised on computers in the specified computer group, categorized by alert severity. The required input and available parameters are as follows:
  • Begin Dateand End Dateto set a date range for the report.
  • Computer Group(must be specified).
Event Analysis This report provides the events matching the criteria specified in the report parameters. Report data can be refined by specifying additional parameters. The required input and available parameters are as follows:
  • Begin Dateand End Dateto set a date range for the report.
  • Computer Group(must be specified).
  • Event Type(default is ALL).
  • Event ID(default is ALL).
  • Provider Instance Name(default is ALL).
  • Source(default is ALL).
  • Sort by—You can sort the results by:  Time(default), Event Id, Sample Text, Repeat Count, Computer, Event Type, Source, and Provider Instance.

You can also specify whether you want the results in ascending or descending order.

Most Common Alerts by Alert Count This report provides the most common alerts that are raised during the specified time period. Report data can be refined by specifying additional parameters. The required input and available parameters are as follows:
  • Begin Dateand End Dateto set a date range for the report.
  • Sort by—You can sort the results by:  Count(default), Alert Name, Activity %, Avg. Time to Resolve, Total Time to Resolve, Rule Group, and Data Provider.

 You can also specify whether you want the results in ascending or descending order.

Most Common Alerts by Computer This report provides the most common alerts on each computer during the specified time period. Report data can be refined by specifying additional parameters. The required input and available parameters are as follows:
  • Begin Dateand End Dateto set a date range for the report.
  • Computer(must be specified).
  • Sort by—You can sort the results by:  Count(default), Computer, Alert Name, Activity %, Avg. Time to Resolve, Total Time to Resolve, Rule Group, and Data Provider.

Most Common Events by Computer This report provides the most common events on each computer, that are raised during the specified time period. Report data can be refined by specifying additional parameters. The required input and available parameters are as follows:
  • Begin Dateand End Dateto set a date range for the report.
  • Computer(must be specified).
  • Sort by—You can sort the results by:  Event Count(default), Computer, Source, Log, Event Type, Event ID, Activity %, and Sample Text.

 You can also specify whether you want the results in ascending or descending order.

Most Common Events by  Computer Group This report provides the most common events for each computer group that are raised during the specified time period. Report data can be refined by specifying additional parameters. The required input and available parameters are as follows:
  • Begin Dateand End Dateto set a date range for the report.
  • Computer Group(must be specified).
  • Sort by—You can sort the results by:  Event Count(default), Computer Group, Source, Log, Event Type, Event ID, Activity %, and Sample Text.

 You can also specify whether you want the results in ascending or descending order.

Performance Analysis This report provides a graph for the selected performance counters collected on the computers specified in the report parameters for the time specified in the report parameters. The required input and available parameters are as follows:
  • Begin Dateand End Dateto set a date range for the report.
  • Computer Group(must be specified). After you identify the computer group, the available computers for selection are provided in the list labeled Computer.

You can specify up to four counters for the performance graph. For each you must identify the following:

  • The object name, which creates a counter list with available performance counters.
  • The performance counter, which creates an instance list with available instances.
  • The instance name.

You must specify the scale factor for the object that you are graphing. The scaling factor ranges from 0.001to 10000000.0. The default scale factor is 1.0.

Rule Group Associated with a Computer This report provides the association relationships between computers, rule groups, and computer groups. The required input and available parameters are as follows:
  • Computer Group(must be specified).
  • Rule Group(default is ALL).
  • Computer(default is ALL).
  • Sort by—You can sort the results by:  Computer(default), Computer Group, and Rule Group.

 You can also specify whether you want the results in ascending or descending order.

Rule Groups Associated with a Computer Group This report provides the association relationships between rule groups and computer groups. The required input and available parameters are as follows:
  • Computer Group(must be specified).
  • Rule Group(default is ALL).
  • Sort by—You can sort the results by:  Computer Group(default) and Rule Group.
