Use the Operator console to work with managed computers. Within the bounds of the console scope that you are using, you can view information about managed computers, create new views, resolve alerts, assign alerts, and run tasks.
The default layout and settings for the Operator console are summarized in the following table.

With all of the panes enabled (the default setting), the main viewing area is divided into four panes. From left to right, they are: the Navigation pane, the Results pane, the Detail pane, and the Tasks pane. You can resize all of the panes by clicking and dragging on a pane border to make it narrower or wider.
You can also remove a pane from the main viewing area or re-enable its display.

NoteThe Results pane is always visible and displays the results of the active view.
Navigation Pane
The Navigation pane is divided into two parts. The upper part displays a console tree for the current view. The default is the Alert views.
The area below the console tree contains navigation buttons. You can reduce or expand this area by dragging the top of the frame.
Select the view type that you want to work with by clicking the appropriate navigation button. The navigation buttons are:
- Alerts
- State
- Events
- Performance
- Computers and Groups
- Diagram
- My Views
- Public Views
Results Pane
When all four panes are visible, the Results pane is in the upper portion of the center part of the screen, to the right of the Navigation pane. The Results pane displays the results of a view. These results are based on the criteria for the view, and the management groups and computer groups that are selected for the view.
Detail Pane
When all four panes are visible, the Detail pane is in lower portion of the center part of the screen, below the Results pane.
In most cases, the Detail pane provides detailed information for a specific result in the upper portion of the pane. No Detail pane appears for the Diagram and Computer Attribute views.
The following table summarizes the additional information that is provided for each result in the Detail pane. This information is displayed in tabs or in table format.

When all four panes are visible, the Tasks pane is on the right side of the screen, to the right of the Results pane.
The Tasks pane displays a hierarchical view of the default tasks that are available for the console scope that you are using. Custom tasks that are created for a console scope are also displayed in the Tasks pane.
