Use this tab to specify whether a match to this rule generates
an alert, and the properties for that alert.
This tab contains the following options:

Generate alert
- Specify whether a match to this rule generates an alert.

Enable state alert properties
- Specify that state alert properties are enabled. When you
select this check box, the
Editbutton is enabled, which when clicked,
launches the
Alert Severity Calculation for State Ruledialog.
This dialog allows you to add or modify alert severity conditions
for this rule.

Alert severity
- Specify the level of severity of the alert, such as
Security Issueor
Critical Error.

Owner
- Specify the person responsible for tracking and resolving the
alert.

Resolution state
- Specify the status of the resolution process of the alert, such
as
Newor
Resolved. The resolution state indicates whether
the resolution process has begun.

Alert source
- Specify the source of the alert. The default is $Source Name$,
but you can specify another parameter by clicking the arrow and
selecting from the list.

Description
- Describe the alert. Press
Enterto insert line breaks within the Description
box.

Server role
- Specify the role that the server plays in regard to the alert.
For example, the agent or the MOM Database.

Instance
- Specify the instance of the alert, such as the source domain or
provider name.

Component
- Specify the component of the
Server role.
To populate the custom fields of the alert, click
Custom Fields.
