Understanding Rule Groups

Rules define how Microsoft®Operations Manager (MOM) 2005 collects, handles, and responds to information. Rule groupshold and categorize rules. For example, a rule group named Microsoft SQL Server contains rules related to Microsoft SQL Server™. Grouping rules together allows you to associate more than one rule with a computer group.

Rule groups provided as part of Management Pack modules contain specific Microsoft Knowledge Base information that defines the purpose, features, and configuration of the rule group.
