A view is a filter that you can apply to the information that is obtained from managed computers and displayed in the Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM)Operator console.
NoteIn MOM 2005, you create and see views in the Operator console, not in the Administrator console. For example, to view membership of computer groups, you must open the Operator console and click Computers and Groups.
By default, the information that is generated by managed computers is derived and filtered as follows:
- Management groups- The available management groups are determined by the management packs that are installed. The default setting for management groups is Global, which means that all of the information generated by the available management groups is unfiltered.
NoteUntil you import additional management packs, the only available management pack and management group is defined by the MOM Management Pack.
- Computer groups- The available computer groups are defined by the console scope. By default, all of the computer groups listed for a console scope are used to filter information.
A third level of filtering is the available views in the Navigation pane. The views filter, used in combination with the management and computer group filters, displays all of the information generated by the managed computers in the Results pane of the Operator console.
You can use the management groups, computer groups, available views, and custom views to create the appropriate level of information filtering for your monitoring.
