Preparing to connect to HP Service Manager
When using the Opalis Integration Pack for HP Service Manager 7 you must perform some pre-installation steps and discover information about your HP Service Manager system before proceeding. The following provides a list of items that you must either build or discover before you can connect to the HP Service Manager system:
Discover HP Service Manager version
Discover HP Service Manager server name and port number used to connect the HP Service Manager client
For all HP Service Manager 7 systems that you plan to connect to you must create an ODBC DSN on each Client and Action Server. Only SQL Server Native ODBC connections are supported.
User credentials that has been assigned the SOAP-API CAPABILITY WORD in the HP Service Manager system. Depending on the HP Service Manager product you purchased, you may be required to purchase extra licensing to enable the SOAP-API CAPABILITY WORD. Consult your HP Sales Representative for further information about licensing.
Time syncrhonization between the Action Server and the HP Service Manager system is very important to the operation of the Monitor Entry object. For this reason, the Monitor Entry object attempts multiple methods to synchronize the times of the systems. The object will first try to use the Domain time. If the Action Server user does not have permission to perform a NET TIME command on the HP Service Manager system, then the object will attempt to retrieve the information from the database. If the ODBC driver is not present on the Action Server, then the object will default to use the local time of the Action Server. If you are experiencing problems with the Monitor Entry object try one of the following:
Make sure that the Action Server and the HP Service Manager are on the same domain and that the user assigned to the Action Server service is able to successfully perform a NET TIME command against the HP Service Manager system.
Create an ODBC DSN on the Action Server computer that connects to the HP Service Manager database. Make sure this DSN information is added to the connection information for that HP Service Manager system. For more information about creating connections to HP Service Manager, see Creating connections for the HP Service Manager.
Make sure that the locale and times are synchronized between the Action Server and the HP Service Manager system.
