Monitor Message
The Monitor Message object enables you to monitor a CA Unicenter NSM server for messages according to criteria that you specify.
How it is used
Use the Monitor Message object to trigger corrective Policies when messages about a certain computer arrive. For example, consider placing a Monitor Message object at the beginning of a Policy, running diagnostic or corrective actions when a message arrives that matches your criteria, and then marking the message as acknowledged after the diagnostic or corrective actions have completed.
Configuration
To configure the Monitor Message object you need to know the name of the CA Unicenter NSM server, and the criteria that you will use to search for messages.

Computer
Click the ellipsis button (...) and browse for the CA Unicenter NSM server that you want to monitor for messages.
Filters
Create the criteria that you will use to trigger this object when matching messages are found. Follow the instructions below.
To add a filter:
1.
Click Add. The Add Filter dialog appears.
2.
From the Field drop-down list, select the field that you want to search in.
3.
From the Relation drop-down list, select the type of relation that you want to use in your search.
4.
In the Value field, type or select the value that will be compared to the item that you selected from the Field drop-down list and click OK. The filter is added to the list.
5.
To edit or remove filters from the list, click Edit or Remove, respectively.

Description
Server
The name of the CA Unicenter NSM server that you are monitoring for messages.
WindowsUser
The user name that you are using to access the CA Unicenter NSM server.
RecordID
The user password that you are using to access the CA Unicenter NSM server.
Color
The color assigned to this message in the CA Unicenter NSM client.
Attribute
The attribute assigned to this message in the CA Unicenter NSM client (blink, reverse, etc.).
Time
The time that the message was written in CA Unicenter NSM.
Type
The type of message in CA Unicenter NSM (Message, Wtor, Command, etc.).
Flag
The message flag assigned to the message in CA Unicenter NSM (Keep, Reply, Highlight, etc.).
Annotations
The number of annotations attached to the message in in CA Unicenter NSM.
TimeGenerated
The time that the message was generated in CA Unicenter NSM.
MessageNumber
The relative position of the message from the beginning of the log file in CA Unicenter NSM.
Node
The node on which the message originated.
User
The user that generated the message.
Severity
The severity level attached to the message.
Station
The workstation associated with the message.
Text
The text of the message.
Device
The IP address of the device that caused the event.
Workload
The workload identification of the message in CA Unicenter NSM.
ProcessInfo
The Process ID and program name that generated the message.
UserData
The value of the CA_UDATA environmental variable.
Category
The classification of the event that generated the message as defined by your enterprise.
Source
Identifies the facility where the message originated.
Tag
The platform from which the message originated.
