Update Event

The Update Event object updates information in a BMC Event Manager event that you specify. The Update Event object requires an id of the event that it is updating. Opalis Software, Inc. recommends that this value be entered using Published Data.

How it is used

Use the Update Event object to update an event based on the results from automated diagnostics performed by a Policy.

Configuration

To configure the Update Event object you will need to know the BMC Event Manager server that you are connecting to, the ID of the event that you are updating, and the slots in the event that you will update.

Address

Select the BMC Event Manager server connection that you want to use from the drop-down list. For more information about connecting to BMC Event Manager, see Connecting to BMC Event Manager.

Event class

Select the event class that you want to use from the drop-down list.

Published Data - Choose slots

Click the Choose slots button and select the slots that you will make available to other objects as Published Data items. Select a slot in the Available slots list and click >> to move it to the Selected slots list. Click OK to return to the Properties dialog.

Click the Choose slots button and select the slots that you want to populate with information. Select a slot in the Available slots list and click >> to move it to the Selected slots list. Click OK to return to the Properties dialog. Then click in the field to the right of each event slot that you added and type a value, or right-click in the field and insert a Published Data item.

mc_ueid

Provide the ID number of the event that you want to update. Opalis Software, Inc. recommends that you insert a Published Data item to populate this field.

Available Published Data

This object generates the following Published Data items by default.

Add more Published Data items by clicking the Choose slots button on the Properties dialog and selecting which slots will generate Published Data items.

BAROC file

The content of the BAROC file. Each BAROC file holds the contents of a single event.

Event ID

The event ID assigned to the event that you are updating.

Common Published Data

Address	Select the BMC Event Manager server connection that you want to use from the drop-down list. For more information about connecting to BMC Event Manager, see Connecting to BMC Event Manager.
Event class	Select the event class that you want to use from the drop-down list.
Published Data - Choose slots	Click the Choose slots button and select the slots that you will make available to other objects as Published Data items. Select a slot in the Available slots list and click >> to move it to the Selected slots list. Click OK to return to the Properties dialog.
