Update Message
The Update Message object will update the severity and text of an existing message on the OpenView Operations server.How it is usedYou can use the Update Message object to update the message text and severity based on the results from automated diagnostics performed by a Policy.ConfigurationTo configure the Update Message object you will need to know the OpenView Operations server that you are connecting to as well as the message you are updating.Details tab
ID Number Type the ID of the message that you are updating. Opalis Software, Inc. recommends that you use Published Data from the Create Message, Acknowledge Message, Own/Disown Message, Get Message, Add Annotation to Message, Update Message, or Monitor Message operators to specify the ID of the message. Severity Select the severity of the message that you are updating. Select Unchanged to keep the current value of the severity. Text Type the description of the message. Leave this field blank to keep the current value of the text. Custom Message Attributes You can add custom message attributes to the Update Message object, and to HP OpenView Operations. In HP OpenView Operations, each custom message attribute that you add becomes a Published Data item and takes the name that you assign to that attribute.
1. Click the Custom Message Attributes button. The Custom Message Attributes dialog appears.
2. Click Add. The Custom Message Attribute dialog appears.
3. In the Name field, type the name for the custom message attribute.
4. Click OK. The Custom Message Attributes dialog appears.
5. Click OK. The Update Message Properties dialog appears. The custom message attribute that you just created appears in the Message Properties list.Note: You can remove the custom message attribute from the Update Message object, but you cannot remove it from HP OpenView Operations.Available Published Data
Name Description Message Id The Id of the message that was updated. Message Severity The severity of the message that was updated. Message text The description text of the message. OVO Operator The name of the OVO Operator user account that was used to update the message. OVO server The name of the OpenView Operations server where the message is stored.
