Opalis Integration Pack for HP OpenView Operations (Solaris) > Installing the Daemon

Installing the Daemon
The Opalis Daemon runs on the HP OpenView Operations server and provides a communication link to the Integration Pack for HP OpenView Operations objects. For more information about configuring the Opalis Daemon, see Using the Daemon.
Note: This installer will install all the Opalis groups and the message interceptor. You must apply the templates and update the SW & Config for the agents of the OpenView Operations server.
When you install the Daemon, a message group named Opalis is installed on the HP OpenView Operations server. To administer messages sent to the Opalis message group, you must make it appear on the HP OpenView Operations Java Console. To make it appear on the HP OpenView Operations Java Console, add the Opalis message group to any user that interacts with the Opalis message group, such as the user that runs the Integration Pack for HP OpenView Operations, or users that will view the Opalis message group on the HP OpenView Operations Java Console. For instructions, see the HP OpenView Operations documentation.
Daemon Package Filenames
The Opalis Daemon must be customized according to the type of Unix you are using and the version of HP OpenView Operations server you plan to deploy on. Opalis Software, Inc. has created customized installation files for each of these combinations. The filenames of these installation files are made of the following elements:
oprprocess-<operating system>-<OpenView Operations version>-<Daemon package version>.<file extension>
The file extension for Solaris operating systems is .gz.
For example, if you were using Solaris, HP OpenView Operations 8, and Daemon Package 2.00, your Daemon filename would be the following:
oprprocess-hpux11i-ovo8-200.gz
In the installation procedures below, replace the <filename> or <filename.extension> placeholder with the name of your Daemon package filename accordingly.
