The Selective Backup object is used
to back up a set of files and folders even if they have not changed
since they were last backed up, and even if they do not yet exist
on the Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) server.
Use the Selective Backup object to
back up mission-critical files on a regular basis, whether they
have changed or not since the last backup.
To configure the Selective Backup
object you need to know the TSM policy domain and computer that you
want to back up, and the names of the files and folders you want to
back up.

Selection
|
Specify the folders and files
that you want to include in the selective backup. Click the
Add button and type the
name of the file or folder that you want to back up. Click
OK and repeat for each file
or folder that you want to include in the backup.
If you select a file that
appears in the TSM Exclude list, the Selective Backup object
completes successfully, but the file will not be backed up.
Note: You must specify each folder and
file that you want to include in the backup. For example, if you
specify the name of a folder, it will not automatically include the
files in that folder; you must specify the folder name and the
files within that folder to include them in the backup. You may use
wildcards such as * and ?.
