Restore Backup
The Restore Backup object is used to restore backed up files and folders after they have been deleted or damaged on the computer where they are normally used.
How it is used
Use the Restore Backup object to restore a file after you have unintentionally deleted a file from your computer.
Configuration
To configure the Selective Backup object you need to know the Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) policy domain and computer that you want to restore from, and the names of the files and folders you want to restore.
Details tab

Connection
Click the ellipsis button (...) and browse for the name of the connection that you want use.
Policy domain
Click the ellipsis button (...) and browse for the name of the TSM policy domain that you want to restore items from.
Node
Click the ellipsis button (...) and browse for the name of the node within the TSM policy domain that you want to restore items from.
Note: You cannot restore to multiple nodes.
Restore
Specify the folders and files that you want to include in the restore operation. Click the Add button and type the name of the file or folder that you want to restore. Click OK and repeat for each file or folder that you want to restore.
To include the files and sub-folders that are inside a folder, add a backslash to the end of the folder name:
C:\folder\
This will return all files and sub-folders in that folder, but it will not include the files that are inside of the sub-folders. To include files that are inside of sub-folders, add a backslash to the end of the sub-folder name:
C:\folder\subfolder\
Note: These files or folders must already exist in an incremental or selective backup that has already occurred.
Note: You cannot use wildcards such as * or ?.
Options tab

Restore NTFS security information
Include NTFS security information in the selective backup.
Files that exist
Specify what to do with objects restored from the TSM server that already exist on the destination computer by selecting an option from the drop-down list:
Do not replace – Do not restore items that already exist on the destination computer. This option is useful in situations where you only want to restore files or folders that are missing on the destination computer.
Replace files even if read-only/locked – Replace all files that already exist on the destination computer, even if they are locked or read-only files. This option is useful in situations where you want to replace damaged files with functional ones on the destination computer.
Replace only if newer
If you checked the Replace files even if read-only/locked option above, check this check box to replace the file or folder on the destination computer if the item on the TSM server is newer.
Wait for completion of the schedule
Opalis Software Inc. recommends that you leave this check box checked. If you do not check it, the object may complete before its schedule completes, and it may not generate Published Data for subsequent objects.
