Multi-user Editing
The Management Server enables
multiple Clients to connect to it. The Management Server enables
one user at a time to edit a Policy, protecting your work from
being overwritten by someone else.
The rules work in a similar way to
books in a library. When someone is editing a Policy, they have it
checked out. Another user cannot edit the information in that
Policy until the user editing the Policy either commits all the
changes by checking the Policy in or reverting all the changes by
undoing the check out.
Rules:
•
|
Check Out - When a user is editing a
Policy, the Policy is "checked out" and cannot be edited by anyone
else. To check out a Policy, click the Policy tab and click Check Out. If someone else is already
editing the Policy, you will be presented with a pop-up message
informing you that someone is already editing the Policy.
|
•
|
Check In - When the user editing the
Policy performs a "check in" operation, they are committing all the
changes that they have made and allowing other users to edit the
Policy. To check in a Policy, click the Policy tab and click Check In. Optionally, you can add a
comment to describe the changes you have made.
|
•
|
Undo
Check Out - When the user editing the Policy performs an
"undo check out" operation, they are reverting all the changes that
they have made since they checked the Policy out and allowing other
users to edit the Policy. To undo a check out operation, click the
Policy tab and click
Undo Check Out.

Audit Log
When a Policy has been changed and
checked in by a user, an entry appears in the Audit History list.
When a Policy has been altered to a state where it is no longer
functioning, you can use the Audit History to see the changes that
were made and then reverse them.
To view the details of the changes,
double-click the entry in the Audit History.
Select each object in the list to
view the changes that were made. The Action displays the type of alteration
that was made. When the Action is Modified, the list at the bottom of the
dialog displays the values that were changed.
